We've thought of everything

The hallmark of these expeditions is our ability to go where others simply can't take you. We make more landings to reach the sites and wildlife you want to see, as well as incredible places of which you may never have heard. Our Expedition Leaders have the flexibility to create new plans as conditions change or unexpected opportunities arise.

Built for the ice

The purpose-built icebreaker, the Kapitan Khlebnikov, is renowned in polar navigation. With its double-thickness armoured hull and advanced icebreaking and propulsion systems, it is among a select group of vessels that can manoeuvre through pack ice. The Adventure Ships - Professor Multanovskiy and Akademik Shokalskiy - were built for polar and oceanographic research. Carrying a small number of passengers in comfortable outside cabins, the three ships have ice-strengthened hulls and can smoothly navigate scenic areas that larger vessels cannot reach. And finally, the latest addition to our fleet is the ice-strengthened Expedition Ships - Ocean Nova and Lyubov Orlova - in carrying larger groups to remote Antarctic shores while offering the spacious comfort and amenities of classic passenger vessels.

Helicopters and Zodiacs

The Kapitan Khlebnikov carries two helicopters as well as a fleet of Zodiac landing craft to ensure you get ashore efficiently, safely and as often as conditions allow. The helicopters, when not being used for ice reconnaissance, are at our disposal for unforgettable sightseeing tours above the Antarctic expanses or to whisk you to otherwise inaccessible sites for guided tours on foot. Similarly, on all vessels, your Expedition Team uses the nimble Zodiacs to make frequent small-group landings on isolated shores, and for excursions along the coast to view natural wonders - calving glaciers, pods of feeding whales, seabird colonies along the cliffs - from the closest vantage point.

A lasting memento to keep you warm

Your personal Expedition Polar Parka. Carefully thought out down to the smallest detail. With a waterproof outer shell, a high stand up collar for added wind protection - it even has a pocket specially designed for your sunglasses. Not only will it keep you warm and dry in all weather, it looks good as well. Yours to keep (on Kapitan Khlebnikov and Adventure Ships).

Expedition Boots

On all vessels, we lend you a pair of rubber expedition boots for shore excursions, so no need to carry them in your luggage.
