Aboard the RV Orient Pandaw

For a shorter Borneo experience this six day cruise contains the main river highlights with less passive cruising. Before the cruise there are two nights in charming Kuching at the super smart Pullman Hotel. From here spend a day in the wildlife parks and visit an orangutan sanctuary only open to Pandaw passengers, that we support. After the cruise fly up to the Mulu National Park to explore the largest cave complex in the world and trek through primary jungle at its most magnificent. This is a great way to see the best of Borneo in a relatively short space of time.
Day 1
Sibu
Transfer from the airport to the ship moored at the Burung Apu Warf next to the Express Boat Terminal. Cast off in the evening cruising upstream towards the Durin Bridge.
Day 2
Kanowit River
Cruise up the Rajang River to Kanowit where, water levels permitting, we enter the Kanowit River and cruise deep into the jungle. On return to the Rajang River we continue upstream to Kapit.
Day 3
Kapit
Transfer to shore by our expedition boat the Pandaw Adventurer and visit visit to Fort Sylvia and Kapit Museum then walk through the bustling market at height of morning activity. Return to ship for lunch. After lunch travel back into Kapit and travel by minivan to one of the few survining original timber built longhouses to participate in the ceremonial miring or welcome ceremony.
Day 4
Baleh River
Explore with the Adventurer up to Baleh river 'Into the Heart of Borneo'. First stop is at Mujong village where we visit the local school (if open) and meet the children and teachers as well as local clinic. Bamboo cooked picnic lunch on a shaded beach in a tranquil setting. Return to ship after lunch.
Day 5
Pelagus Rapids and Jungle Trek
Jungle trek in the cool of the morning along a specially prepare trail through strands of primary and secondary forest. Afternoon travel by Adventurer to the Pelagus Rapids and if water conditions permit the Adventurer will shoot them.
Day 6
Sibu
Arrive Sibu by 7am for disembarktion at Burung Apu Wharf. A transfer from the ship to Sibu airport is included in the price of your cruise, however, Pandaw must be notified at the time of booking confirmation of passengers' flight number and departure time.
