Venice and the Dalmatian Coast

Itinerary

Day 1

Venice

This afternoon embarkation is at 4.00pm. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2

Venice

Today is free for optional sightseeing in Venice prior to this evening's departure. The Monet departs along the Canale della Giudecca past Piazza San Marco, setting a course for Croatia and its stunning coastal beauty. Dalmatia alone has over 1,000 islands basking in the sun that, along with the coastal cities of Croatia, offer a wealth of art, architecture, culture and history.

Day 3

Pula

Pula, at the tip of the Istrian Peninsula, is famed for its Roman antiquities, particularly the massive 22,000-seat Amphitheater, a short walk from the Monet's dock. Mid-afternoon, the ship heads south on its overnight journey to Split.

Day 4

Split

Split has one of the best preserved Roman edifices in existence: the massive Diocletian's Palace, a fascinating complex where modern shops and offices are integrated harmoniously within the ancient and medieval ruins. The island of Hvar, with its popular harborfront promenade and picture-perfect views from the Fortress Spanjol, boasts acres of lavender fields outside of town.

Days 5-6

Dubrovnik

The Old Town of Dubrovnik is a breathtaking sight, entirely surrounded by massive gray walls of stone. Inside, find a treasure trove of medieval art and architecture that has earned it a designation as a UN World Heritage Site. Cap off your visit with a stroll along the Stradun, the wide pedestrian promenade where you will discover many fine shops, cafes and galleries. The sparsely inhabited island of Mljet offers lovely pine forests and jewel-like lakes, with the opportunity for a refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters. Korcula, a very walkable peninsula town that claims to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, contains many reminders of the rule of the Venetians.

Day 7

Zadar

Your exploration of the Dalmatian coast concludes with a visit to the medieval walled town of Zadar. Step ashore for a visit to the exceptional Museum of Church Art, the Archaeological Museum or the National Museum.

Day 8

Arrive Venice

After cruising through the evening you arrive back into Venice this morning and disembarkation is from 8.00am.
