TOUR 1
Outback Gems, Ancient Wonders

21 to 27 June, 2004
Sydney to Darwin 7 Days/6 Nights

Departing Sydney on June 21, you head straight for the heart of the outback, landing firstly at the remote opal-mining town of Lightning Ridge. Explore this incredibly eclectic settlement before flying on to the romantic home of the outback tradition, Longreach, where you’ll tour the world famous Stockman’s Hall of Fame and enthralling Qantas museum.

Before flying on to sleepy Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria, we explore 95 million year old fossilised dinosaur footprints at Winton. From Karumba we proceed into the World Heritage-listed tropical wetlands of Kakadu, flying ‘low and slow’ over the spectacular escarpments and ancient riverine forests of this very special region. Here you will fully appreciate the wonderful “flight-seeing” qualities of our immaculately restored DC-3s. We land at Cooinda in the park itself and explore at ground level the natural treasures we surveyed from the air.

Before our adventure winds up in Darwin, we spend time at Bullo River Station where you’ll experience station life firsthand, or take in some optional activities like fishing or a helicopter ride.

All accommodation, transfers, tours and most meals are included. Please book early, as space is limited. The special, one-off tour price is $4995 per person twin share, with a Single Supplement of $810.
