Brazil Bossa Nova - 7 Days

Day 1

Belo Horizonte

Arrive at Belo Horizonte, Brazil’s third largest and first planned city, situated over 800 metres above sea level and surrounded by mountains.

Day 2

Ouro Petro

Full day visit to Ouro Preto. Founded in 1711, declared a National Monument over 60 years ago, Ouro Preto is a remarkable treasure house of colonial and Baroque architecture and paintings. Stone paved streets, winding up and down steep hills crowned with glorious churches, add to the harmonious ensemble of colonial tiled buildings, fountains and terraced gardens. BL

Day 3

Belo Horizonte - Brasilia

Fly to Brasília, capital of Brazil and a planned urban development, destined to become one of the great cities of the world. Rising like a mirage from a reddish barren land, this ultra modern metropolis, with it’s unusual architecture and layout, is an architect’s dream. This afternoon a half day tour seeing the principal Government buildings and “superblocks”, each a small self contained city. B

Day 4

Brasilia - Salvador da Bahia

Fly to Salvador, the original capital of Brazil, famous for it’s 165 colonial churches, such as the gold - encrusted Convent Church of San Francisco. Brazil’s largest collection of 17th and 18th Century art is found in Salvador. Afternoon tour of Pelourinho, Salvador’s upper city; an historic area with many 17th Century churches, public buildings and residences; and the lower city with the commercial quarters, picturesque market and the old port.B

Day 5-6

Salvador da Bahia

Salvador is the ideal place to relax and unwind - the pace is a little slower than Brazil’s major cities and it is fringed with beautiful beaches. Perhaps take an optional tour of the beach areas, where you may also see the traditional fishing rafts (jangadas) and some of the local eating stands selling delicious fresh seafood. B

Salvador da Bahia

Depart Salvador da Bahia today. B

Atacama Desert - 4 Days

Day 1

Santiago

Upon arrival at the airport you will be met and transfered to your hotel.

Day 2

Santiago - Calama - San Pedro

Fly to Calama. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Depending on your arrival time you may be able to enjoy one of the daily tours. BLD

Day 3

San Pedro, El Tatio Geysers and Puritama Hot Springs

An early start to visit the Geysers del Tatio. At the geysers enjoy a picnic style breakfast followed by a guided stroll through this geothermal field. You have the chance for a rejuvenating soak in 40°C water. During your return journey visit the Puritama Hot Springs, developed by Hotel Explora. After a short stop to enjoy the facilities return to San Pedro de Atacama. BLD

Day 4

San Pedro - Calama - Santiago

Today visit the Miñique, Miscanti and Altiplanics Lagoons. En route see the Licancabur volcano and visit Toconao village. Drive through the lush Jerez valley before reaching the Lagoons. On your return to San Pedro visit the Salar de Atacama, home to three species of flamingos. As the sun sets over the stunning desert landscape we return to San Pedro and transfer to Calama airport for onward flight. BL
