NORTH AFRICA

LIBYA, TUNISIA & MOROCCO

This 24 day tour departs Australia on 7 November 2009

Our second great tour to the African continent visits classical North Africa, commencing in the Libyan capital of Tripoli and from a base there you will visit the ancient UNESCO World Heritage sites of Leptis Magna, Sabratha, Cyrene and Apollonia. There will also be a reflective moment during a stay in Benghazi where a visit will be made to the Australian War Cemetery and Tobruk. Before leaving Libya, we will travel into the heart of the Sahara to the UNESCO classified city of Ghadames, the ‘pearl of the south’ and once an important transit point on the Trans-Saharan trade route, along which travelled the caravans of gold and spices from Timbuktu, north to the Mediterranean. The tour then continues to Carthage, Tunisia and onto Marrakech and Fez in Morocco. We have incorporated within this tour a most comprehensive sequence of sightseeing, comfortable and enjoyable modes of travel, together with a collection of delightful hotels.
