Polar Expeditions - New Season bookings now open

Passion unabated, expertise unsurpassed!

Just as the needle on the compass always points north, that same magnetic attraction has drawn explorers and travellers for centuries. A journey to the Polar regions, is for most of us, the adventure of a lifetime. And, at Adventure Associates, we understand those aspirations, because they define our company.

For the coming 2008 Polar season we are proud to offer expeditioners and travellers an enormous range of Arctic adventure options ranging from Polar bear spotting in Svalbard to icebreaker journeys to the North Pole, the Northeast Passage and the Arctic islands of Greenland and Canada.

At the other end of the world - The Antarctic

For the season 2008-2009 our fleet numbers five vessels, each with their own unique itinerary. The massive Kapitan Khlebnikov embarks on comprehensive explorations to Snow Hill Island Emperor Penguin colonies and the Amundsen and Ross Seas. Two of her amazing expeditions during the season will be the 31-Day Epic Antarctica Semi-Circumnavigation from Ushuaia, Argentina to Lyttelton, New Zealand and her 26-Day Great Antarctic Explorers voyage from Lyttelton, travelling via the Ross Sea, Macquarie and Campbell Islands and disembarking in Hobart!

A special guest aboard this expedition will be author Adrian Raeside. Adrian is the grandson of glaciologist Sir Charles Wright, a member of Scott’s 1910 journey to the Ross Sea. Adrian is the custodian of his grandfather’s journals, letters and artefacts and while aboard he will recount previously unknown details and observations, present photographs taken from his grandfather’s private collection as well as cinematic footage taken by one of the most famous Antarctic photographers - Herbert Ponting.

Meanwhile, the Ocean Nova and Akademik Shokalakiy, our Adventure ships allow you to reach the hidden gems larger ships cannot and perhaps participate in Polar camping and kayaking! Or for the perfect balance of adventure and comfort, there is our newest addition, the ice-strengthened Clipper Adventurer and the popular Lyubov Orlova our Expedition Ships.

Whether your quest is to retrace any of the historic polar voyages of yore, experience the unique polar wildlife or just go somewhere you’ve never been before, contact Adventure Associates on 1800 222 141 for further information and bookings and visit www.adventureassociates.com
