Expedition to the Northeast Passage - 2008
Adventure Associates offer their clients the chance to make history – again!
It's not very often one gets the chance to create truly historic expeditions. It seems they’ve already done it all! In over eighteen years at the very forefront of polar travel, Adventure Associates’ clients have had the chance to be part of history on numerous occasions:
- Furthest south by ship
- First Australian tourists to the North Pole
- First Australian tourists to circumnavigate Antarctica
So, it creates great excitement when they have the opportunity to announce another truly historic expedition.
In June 2008, as part of the 130th anniversary of the First Transit of the Northeast Passage, they will launch one of their most ambitious expeditions ever, that being to retrace the journey first attempted in the 16th Century, when explorers attempted to transit the Northeast Passage, which follows the Arctic coast of Russia from the Barents Sea to the Bearing Strait.
Russia’s Northeast Passage was closed to foreign travellers for more than half a century. Total darkness six months of the year coupled with extreme ice and weather conditions continue to make the Northeast Passage relatively inaccessible to travellers.
But not to them! They were the first and will be the only- expedition company capable of offering this ambitious journey aboard a polar-class icebreaker in 2008.
Needless to say, this spectacular voyage will fill almost immediately, so interested passengers should take advantage of this early announcement to book their passage aboard the icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov as soon as possible. The expedition commences in Anchorage, Alaska prior to flying to Anadyr, Russia ending in Helsinki 26 days later. Triple cabins start at US$24,700 per person and Twin share from US$ 29,900 per person.
