The highlight of this tour is Cuzco located in the Southeastern region of Peru. Cuzco means navel, and for the Incas it was a divine place, the center of the Inca Empire and the center of the world. Cuzco is known as the Archaeological Capital of America. Founded during the 11th century by Inca Manco Capac, Cuzco was the divine city of the Inca Empire.
Day 1
Lima
Arrive into LIMA, founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro. The most important city in South America for three centuries, Lima still boasts beautiful colonial architecture with ornate wooden balconies, excellent museums, restaurants and nightclubs. Afternoon tour, visiting the principal attractions. See the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the elegant, modern residential suburbs of Miraflores and San Isidro. Also visit the Larco Herrera Museum, the world's largest private collection of Peruvian Pre-Columbian art, also famed for its erotic pottery collection.
Day 2
Lima - Cuzco
Fly to CUZCO, once capital of the Inca civilisation. Cuzco lies hidden in a valley at a height of 3,310 metres. Spend the morning relaxing and adjusting to the altitude. Afternoon sightseeing tour of the city and surrounding ruins of Kenko, Sacsayhuamán, Puku Pukara and Tambo Machay.B
Day 3
Cuzco - Machu Picchu
Early morning rail journey to Machu Picchu, fabled “Lost City of the Incas”, with its breathtaking views. Lunch is served after a guided tour of the ruins. Late afternoon return to Cuzco and your hotel.BL
Day 4
Cuzco
Day at leisure. Perhaps enjoy an optional tour of Pisac Markets and the ruins of Ollantaitambo - your itinerary may be re-arranged to fit in with market day. B
Day 5
Cuzco
Depart Cuzco, returning to Lima, or continue with the “Altiplano” Tour.
