Day 1
Lima - Huaraz
Early morning departure by road, travelling through Pativilca. Passing the impressive Conococha Lagoon, where the Santa River starts, enjoy fabulous views of the Cordillera Blanca before arriving in Huaraz in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 2
Huaraz: Chavin de Huantar
A 4-hour drive over spectacular mountain roads leads to this famed temple, honeycombed with interior galleries, some of which can be explored. The mythical figures called “Cabezas Clavas”, in high and low relief are placed in the pyramidal buildings. Return to Huaraz in the afternoon. BL
Day 3
Huaraz: Llanganuco Lake (Portachuelos) - Callejón de Huaylas
Today visit the lovely Callejón de Huaylas, with its typical towns and the beautiful LLanganuco Lake, its turquoise waters reflecting the majesty of the mystical mountain, Huascarán. During the tour visit Caraz City. From here embark on one of the best and one of the easier light hikes, taking you to one of the most impressive Cordillera Blanca areas, with stunning high mountain scenery. From Portachuelo de LLanganuco (4,765m) the panoramic view is truly impressive. Return to Huaraz, visiting the handcraft centre of Tarica en-route. BL
Day 4
Huaraz: Pastoruri - Puyas raimondi - Huaraz - Lima
Excursion to the glacier within the National Huascaran Square. During the journey you will be able to appreciate the beautiful Puya Raimondi, the most important representative of the Andean flora, the sources of Pumabamba gasified water, the eye of Pumashimin (puma’s eye) of changing colours, and Rupestrian Art on rock walls. Later, arrive at the Huarapasca Pass , and embark on a 30 minute walk to Pastoruri Mountain. Here you will be able to enjoy a toboggan ride. Transfer to your Huaraz hotel, and later board your bus for your overnight journey back to Lima, arriving early morning. BL
