Amazon

The Amazon basin covers an area of 6.2 million square kilometres, nearly the same area as Australia. Its intricate lacework of waterways represents around 40% of the planet’s fresh water and is the largest fluvial system on earth. Over 1800 bird, 250 mammal and 1500 fish species have been identified and the number of insect species may run into the millions. All these creatures intermingle and coalesce in a mystic and magical balance of colours and sounds. Remote and pristine, this is an area where plant and animal life is at its densest and biodiversity is at its highest. We offer a selection of Amazon Lodge Packages or Amazon Cruises for those seeking an Amazon adventure.

Have your camera constantly ready with plenty of high speed film. Glimpses of the unexpected can occur anywhere. Your quarry is elusive. Bright-winged birds, teasing monkeys and something on soft feet in the undergrowth! There is much activity on the river banks… alligators lazing in a spot of sun (a telephoto lens is wise in some encounters), steaming trails, curious peering natives and jungle huts huddled in a clearing. Adventure Associates presents many exciting ways to capture it all…
